The Safe-H20-Farm project of the PrimaProgram was at the 3rd Pan-Cyprus Conference “Rural Development: From Research to Practice” that took place on 8 and 9th May 2025 in Lefkara, Cyprus. The Cyprus Institute’s Niovi Christodoulou presented a poster on improving irrigation and nitrogen management in olive orchards irrigated with treated waste water. The research is conducted in two olive production farms in Cyprus, as part of the Safe-H2O-Farm project. The research work is supported by the Water Group colleagues from the The Cyprus Institute’s Energy, Environment and Research Center.

 

The Conference was opened by the Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment Dr. Maria Panagiotou, who mentioned, among other things, the high level of applied research being carried out in Cyprus, a fact that demonstrates the dynamics of our country in the field of innovation. The Conference is an initiative of the National Rural Network of the Department of Agriculture and was organized with the cooperation of the Institute of Agricultural Research and the Cyprus University of Technology. The event was attended by more than 200 participants, including researchers, agricultural extension officers, consultants, farmers and representatives of agricultural organizations and groups.
